Marriage/Nikah Terms & Conditions

Appointment requests. I understand that the preferred dates and times I enter are requests only. My Nikah appointment is not scheduled or confirmed until ICC contacts me and confirms the date and time.

Ceremony location and service fee. I understand that the service fee is based on the ceremony location selected in this application and that payment must be successfully completed as required by ICC before the service is finalized.

No-show, cancellation, rescheduling, and location changes. Corrections and additional adjustments. I understand that corrections, revisions, or other adjustments requested after I submit this application may require additional administrative work and may result in additional charges, including changes to information used to prepare the Nikah certificate or related ICC documents.
ICC record retention and authorization. I authorize the Islamic Center of Charlotte to retain copies of the completed Nikah certificate and supporting records submitted or collected in connection with this application, including identification documents for the bride, groom, witnesses, Wali / Wakeel, or other persons whose documentation is required for the Nikah. I understand these records may be retained for ICC's internal administrative, verification, historical, and recordkeeping purposes.
Certificate copies and additional-copy fees. I understand that ICC will provide one standard copy of the completed Nikah certificate to the bride and one standard copy to the groom. Any additional certificate copies requested after the standard copies are provided may be subject to an additional copy or administrative fee. I understand that ICC may require payment of the applicable fee before issuing an additional copy.

If the total cost of damage, replacement, or required cleaning exceeds the amount of my deposit, I agree that I am responsible for paying ICC the remaining balance.
No-show and late cancellation. I understand that if I fail to appear for a confirmed event or cancel the reservation less than forty-eight (48) hours before the confirmed event start time, ICC will not issue a refund of amounts paid for the reservation.
Required documentation and record retention. I agree to provide documentation reasonably required by ICC in connection with the facility reservation, which may include government-issued identification, bank statements, or other requested supporting records. Our Story

A community built on faith, family, and service.

The Islamic Center of Charlotte began in 1988, originally as the Islamic Society of Masjid Al-Islam. At a time when Charlotte's Muslim community had very few dedicated spaces for worship, local Muslims came together to establish a permanent home for prayer, learning, and community life.

The community converted a former church at 1700 Progress Lane into a mosque. In 1992, the organization adopted the name Islamic Center of Charlotte — the name our community knows today.

Since then, ICC has grown into a spiritual, educational, and cultural home serving Muslims across Charlotte while also welcoming neighbors, visitors, people learning about Islam, and anyone looking for a peaceful place to connect.

You are welcome here. Whether you have lived in Charlotte for years, recently moved to the area, are new to Islam, or are simply visiting and learning, ICC welcomes you to come in, meet the community, and experience the masjid.

Our History

Part of Charlotte's Muslim community since 1988.

ICC began with local Muslims working together to establish a permanent place for prayer and community life.

1988

A permanent Muslim community center

ICC was established as the Islamic Society of Masjid Al-Islam, becoming Charlotte's first Muslim community center and creating a dedicated place for worship and community life.

1992

The Islamic Center of Charlotte

The organization adopted the name Islamic Center of Charlotte, reflecting its growing role as a center for worship, education, service, and community connection.

Today

Still growing with Charlotte

ICC continues to host daily prayers, Jumu'ah, Islamic learning, youth and family programs, community services, outreach, and support for Muslims and neighbors throughout the Charlotte area.

Life at ICC

A masjid that is part of everyday community life.

People come to ICC to pray, learn, spend time with family and friends, volunteer, ask for help, and stay connected to the Muslim community in Charlotte.

On a normal week, the masjid is active from the daily prayers through evening programs. Friday brings the community together for Jumu'ah, while Qur'an and Arabic classes, youth activities, family programs, and community events bring people back throughout the week.

ICC also serves people during important moments in their lives. Community members come to the masjid for marriage and family services, financial assistance, support when they are new to Islam, and help finding the right person or program when they are going through something difficult.

During Ramadan, Eid, special programs, and larger community gatherings, the masjid becomes especially busy. Volunteers help organize parking, food, guests, programs, and many of the small things that allow the community to function.

Meet Our Imams

ICC's imams serve the community through prayer, teaching, Qur'an instruction, khutbahs, and guidance for individuals and families.

Sheikh Bassam Obeid

Head Imam

Sheikh Bassam Obeid has served the Islamic Center of Charlotte and the Charlotte Muslim community for more than two decades. At ICC, he leads prayers and khutbahs, teaches Qur'an and Islamic studies, and provides religious guidance to individuals and families.

His teaching at ICC includes Seerah, Fiqh, Tafseer, Hadith, Q&A, and Qur'an studies. He studied Sharia at the Islamic University of Madinah, continued graduate study in Islamic Studies, and holds ijazah and sanad in Qur'anic recitation with Tajweed.

Imam Ahmed E. Mostafa

Imam

Imam Ahmed Mostafa serves the ICC community through Qur'an instruction, weekly classes, khutbahs, and religious guidance. Much of his teaching focuses on helping people improve their Qur'an recitation and build a stronger understanding of the Qur'an.

His classes at ICC include Qur'an recitation, Tajweed, Hifz, Tadabbur, and other Islamic studies, with programs designed for community members at different levels of learning.
